Backhoes

Tractor backhoes are some of the most versatile and well-known pieces of construction equipment around. In fact, they are most likely to be seen at most construction sites, because they have many different functions, especially thanks to the latest innovations in hydraulic power. The reason they are called tractor backhoes is not because the digging shovel is mounted on the back of the tractor. In fact, there are many different backhoe loaders where the shovel is placed in the front. The reason it is called a backhoe is because of the action the shovel takes. Instead of lifting the dirt up and forward, like a bulldozer would do, the action of the shovel is backwards and dragged through the dirt.

A breaker is a percussion hammer that has much power, and can be used for demolition purposes, such as breaking a concrete structures or penetrating rocks. It is usually referred to as a hoe ram. Think of it as an extremely powerful jackhammer that can be attached to the backhoe.

A grappler is a claw or hook that you can use to pick up and hold something. Think of the claw machine that you find in stores or restaurants. Now imagine hooking up one of those to your tractor backhoe, to pick up and move different heavy objects.

In conclusion, the tractor backhoe offers a wide variety of different digging and excavation purposes, because of its different attachments and it's great design.
